About Me.

I've been calling Hanoi, Vietnam my home since 2019. For the past nine years, I've been teaching History and Politics, and when I'm not in the classroom, you can usually find me either teaching yoga or hitting the trails for a run. One thing that's important to me is working with the local community. As an expat living in Vietnam, I recognize the incredible privilege that comes with that, and I'm eager to learn more about the place I call home and give back in any way I can.

I have been a classroom-based teacher since 2014, having been awarded Qualified Teacher Status in 2016, after also completing a Master’s in History from King’s College, London. Since then I have taught both History and Politics, I have taught in London, UK, at a range of schools, as well as in Hanoi, Vietnam as an international school teacher. My key competencies include curriculum planning and development, student agency and wellbeing, and technological proficiency in the classroom. In my role as Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Co-ordinator, I have also worked on global citizenship, anti-racism, inclusion and advocacy in schools. Indeed, I have presented on this topic at an international conference in Bangkok. Furthermore, I have also developed and implemented various school-wide initiatives that have contributed towards developing global citizens and responsibility amongst our students.

I started Dignity EDI at the end of 2022 in response to the growing need for schools to understand that inclusion is necessary to gain the full benefits of diversity. Since the covid pandemic and its consequences I feel that being a 'History' teacher is no longer enough. Schools need to be accountable for creating a more sustainable and peaceful world, schools need to take actions to engage with their students, staff, parents and communities to make these changes.

"As an expat teacher in the international school sector, I feel it is more important than ever that expat teachers strive to listen, learn and understand the students, colleagues and community that they work with"
